Solo exposition – Werner Engelen

with one comment

It’s been quite slow overhere, not to say a complete stand still. My (lame) excuse? The preparation of my new solo exposition ‘the social network as it was supposed to be’ in the Lakenhalle in Herentals.

dates: 21/09 – 13/10
days: wednesdays through sundays
hours: 14:00 – 17:00
location: (it’s the building on the right)

Alexander Gronsky – Pastoral

with one comment

Sometimes you come across a photographer at whose images you’re looking open-mouthed. Estonian photographer Alexander gronsky is one of them. His series Pastoral is an incredible collection of 65 (!) images. They look like an exponent of Carl De Keyzer, Jeff Wall & Alec Soth but still completely different and above all competely coherent.

Pictures from another galaxy? Or just a bunch of frying pan photos? Great work by Christopher Jonassen.

Lene Münch – The Island of Riems

leave a comment »

There is a certain place known as the ‘Island of Diseases’, the ‘Island of Viruses’, or even the ‘Mad Island’ if you will. Regardless of its many titles it is officially called the Island of Riems.

For about 100 years the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI) has been situated on this small island in the Baltic Sea. Behind two and a half meter high barbed wire fences, very well isolated from the outside world, highly contagious animal diseases are researched. Mad cow disease, bird flu and hoof-and-mouth disease are the better-known pathogens out of the many more strains of blight studied on this island.

In 2010, Berlin photographer Lene Münch got access to this secret world.

Some days you simply have to show up

Some days you really need to work it in order to find the perfect angle or that one unique shot, but some days … you simply need to be ready to receive it.

Thank you.

Air drive – Renaud Marion

French photographer Renaud Marion created, or should I say, re-created some classic cars and gave them a futuristic update. One of the rare examples where Adobe Photoshop didn’t go wrong.

Have some fun … The Best Awkward Photos of Couples

leave a comment »

We don’t have to be seriously all of the time.

The internet sensation AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com has collected some of their favorite awkward photos of couples submitted to their site. From the over the top poses, choice locations or the exchange of ungraceful kisses this set, which contains some of my favorites, delivers quite the punch.
